Brilliant!

Notice the difference between the original cable
and the new cable below.
While operating with the FT817 I had several findings and some brilliant solutions ;-) First of all the supplied powercord to the radio is a little thin. The voltage meter on the radio drops 2-3V at least when transmitting. I made a thicker power cord of 1,5mm2 wire, voltage drop is 1V less now. The second thing is that my radio slides from the dashboard. A anti slip pad would be handy. But I have made another solution which can also serve as a handy desk stand. It is not enterily my own invention unfortenatly, DD7LP and W4RT made a similar stand. The one I made is simple and at least just as good. I had enough material to make another 10 and will sell them on the dutch marketplace for 5 euro each including postage (inside the Netherlands). If interested leave me a comment or message.

An event I forgot to mention happened friday evening when I was active on 80m JT65A. At the time it happened it was in the heat of contacting and making QSOs, I forgot about it and actually forgot to make a screenshot of it. But it was a brilliant way of using radio instead of the digital highway. I wrote PH0NO a mail last friday, that I would be activating a castle so he could publish it on his COTA-PA site. I forgot to mention which day. Surprisingly JT-Alert popped up and there was a message out of nothing from PH0NO: BAS SA OR SU (Could have been in Dutch, but this is the translation). I answered: LARS SA as quickly I could, but actually I was flabbergasted. Later he wrote me an e-mail that he couldn't reach me by e-mail, he had his endfed still hanging and connected the radio and computer just to see if it would work out on JT65. It proves radio communication can be faster then the digital highway, brilliant!

Another invention made by me is the thing on the picture. I use it for quite a time now and it's always working. I think I wrote about it before but never pictured it. So guess what it is?

Have made them with red, blue and transparant
protection sleeves

Bas, what kind antenna do you use when HF mobile?

Hallo Bas,

Goed weekend,

Hello John, I use a chinese replica of the Watson Multiranger 200. Reviewed as a dummyload by many ;-) 73, Bas
