PACC 2014 preparations

A year has gone by and we are already facing the PACC again. The contest is quite early in the month this year. Propagation is good compared to the solar minimum. It could be possible to have a higher score this year again. 3 weeks ago I encountered a sudden problem having RFI into the deskmike. Strange, nothing has been changed at the station? I found out it the problem came from the voicekeyer I thought. Without the voicekeyer I had no problem at all. Could it be a earthloop? I really don't know but finally creating a earthloop from the mike to the voicekeyer solved the problem. Finally I got a second monitor, a thing I always wished, to keep an eye on the multipliers on other bands. I found a incredible handy DX cluster for that. So, I hope the HB9CV will do the job to score some extra multipliers just like the 40m vertical did last year. Only time will tell. Well, through the years I developed a strategy to get as many QSOs as possible with my setup. But strategy or not you can't predict how propagation is on any band. The only thing that is important is to be there 24 hours and keep ears & eyes open. Listening is at least as important as calling. I made a comparisation from the amount of QSOs I made in 2012/2013. Interesting to see the the lines are almost identical. If anyone wants to sleep best choice would be between 3 and 4 UTC in the morning.
